2016 Wiyana Wanda

$125.00

‘‘This wine is quite simply put “a beast” – and yet it will win you over with more than just its brawn. 24 months in all new French oak – a best barrel blend that spends one year separately as 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec – then another year together and finally it rest 11 months in bottle before its final release to the public (it is also bottled unfined and unfiltered). Notes of black licorice, black cherry, raspberry, rich mocha, spice and a touch of chocolate … and it is just getting started. The finish brims with mocha and black cherry, and yes it probably needs another 3 years to truly come into its own, so be sure to hold at least a bottle (or two) so you experience its upcoming splendor … start drinking in 2022, the rest is up to you.  Another of Icellars wines that is deserving of my highest mark.  Michael Pinkus – Rating: ***** 5 stars
