2019 SAUVIGNON BLANC TASTING NOTES:
This vintage was made from 100% handpicked Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown at Wismer Homestead Vineyard. This was the first vintage in which we did a semi-barrel ferment. Meaning, we divided our yield into 2 lots; one to be fermented in 100% French oak and the other in a stainless steel tank. The goal with this was to have one lot that provided the typical citrus notes with bright acid and the other to provide a buttery notes with a smoother finish. We blended the two lots after 6 months of oak ageing to the barrel lot.
In the glass, notice a very clear appearance with a slight yellow tint. With taking a few breaths you receive notes of lemon, lime with a balance oak provided by vanilla and almond. The balance between the oak and the citrus is extremely unique. It still holds it refreshing character without being overtly light or fruit forward.
Taking a few sips of the wine, you can directly translate those characters from the aromatics to the flavor. It is well balanced, bone dry and holds a slight citrus note. the wine is extremely refreshing served at a chilled temperature, being perfect for all season of the year.
