2017 PINOT NOIR TASTING NOTES:
A ripe and concentrated Pinot Noir from an excellent vintage. Estate grown grapes were handpicked and sorted. Gently destemmed, the whole berries were added to tank in addition to a small percentage of whole clusters. The grapes were left to cold soak in tank prior to completing primary fermentation with careful cap management. The free run wine was drained from tank and the skins were gently pressed. The wine was put into French Oak barrels to complete Malo-Lactic fermentation. Batonnage (lees stirring) was performed on the young wine before aging on lees for 12 months.
Lifted aromatics of black cherry, raspberry and clove. A nuanced floral component lingers in the backdrop. Dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus alcohol and silky tannins. Full-bodied, dense and structurally in perfect harmony. Ripe fruit flavors of strawberry jam and plum lead through the lengthy palate. Vanilla rounds out the whole experience. Decant now or drink 2022-2026+.
