2017 CHARDONNAY TASTING NOTES:

Our chardonnay is 100% estate grown and is hand harvested and hand sorted. This vintage was barrel fermented in 4 large format French barrels (500L) and was stirred on lees, also leading with a 12 month barrel age. We barrel ferment our Chardonnay to achieve more texture and complexity in our wine; more particularly to mellow the natural acidity present in cool climate chardonnays. This vintage was bottled in 2018 and has experienced 2 years in bottle thus far.

In the glass, you will note a straw-like pigment, with a medium intensity and low viscosity. With a few breaths, you will note aromas of green apple, vanilla and dried apricot. The barrel influence did not mask the fruit forward quality of the chardonnay, yet it enhanced aromas of vanilla and caramel. With a few sips, you receive bright acidity with nuances of lemongrass, pineapple, vanilla and butter. The acidity of the wine is so vibrant, in a way that the oak does not over whelm your palate. The finish is smooth and lingers gently on the end of the tongue. This wine is perfect as is, or pairing with low fat and lean foods.

Chardonnay is Niagara’s most in-demand varietals and therefore, we pride ourselves on our quality. If you are interested in having more than a few sips, feel free to visit our online shop where we are shipping Canada wide.  We would love to hear your feedback and if there are any further questions please feel free to contact us directly.
