Sun is shining bright

Hello friends,

What a beautiful day in Southern Ontario today. I walked Lulu half an hour ago and she was so happy to meet many of her friends. Sun is shining bright, dandelions are everywhere. Speaking of sun, I am happy to inform you we have just finished our rooftop solar installation.

It is not a conventional solar PV system. It constitutes an hybrid system; while it is connected to Ontario's electic grid it has also an off-grid portion that will continue to supply power to our business on a power black out. The design is so unique and progressive that the inspectors from the Electric Safety Authority (ESA) had to say they have not encountered a system like this before but we got it approved with the installation. I sincerely thank to NOTL Hydro for approving such a new design and I am sure it will be an example to many designs in the future.

Icellars' solar PV system will be officially connected to the grid on Thursday May 11th.

In the below picture you see inverters converting the DC power to AC power. The 4 big boxes at the bottom are newest generation Lithium-ion smart batteries that cost $12,000 each.

This system will generate about 200,000 kWh per year which 150,000 kWh will be used by us and the remaining will be donated to Ontario's electric system. This will make Icellars the first winery in Canada (out of 700+) to be NET ZERO ENERGY.

I mentioned before as we got our Organic Certification from Ecocert Canada, our 2023 wines and beyond will be labeled Certified Organic. Our family and employees are proud of these achievements to make and offer healty and environmental friendly wines to you.

Stay well.
